    Job Description

    In this newly created role, the successful candidate will collaborate with business partners and vendors to enhance the portfolio risk management function of the Bank. The position is responsible for providing effective credit lending portfolio risk management across all areas of the Bank. The Manager, Credit Portfolio Risk Management will work closely with the Director, Risk Management and the Chief Risk Officer (“CRO”) to ensure that portfolio risk management activities are defined, documented, and monitored in accordance with all regulations.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Identify, assess, measure, and report the key credit portfolio risks;
    • Assist with maintaining and managing credit risk appetite frameworks including supporting credit risk management policies, processes and limits;
    • Monitor the nature, composition and quality of the loan portfolios against portfolio risk limits;
    • Identify patterns, trends or systemic issues within the Bank’s lending portfolios that may impact portfolio risk;
    • Develop and utilize effective credit risk management tools including but not limited to Credit Risk Rating Systems, risk database and stress testing; 
    • Assist the CRO with preparing periodic portfolio risk reporting to ensure a comprehensive and accurate view of the Bank’s credit risk profile;
    • On a monthly basis, conduct Annual Reviews for identified retail lending loans;
    • Ensure that periodic credit quality reviews be held on individual loans and on portfolio level according to related loan review procedures;
    • Work closely with other risk personnel and other departments to strengthen all aspects of portfolio risk management;
    • Develop and cultivate professional, positive relationships with our key internal and external partners.
    • Maintain knowledge, ensure awareness of and compliance with all aspects of applicable legislation and Bank’s policies.


    Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of credit lending and/or credit risk management experience.
    • Previous experience in a bank environment is preferred.
    • Previous experience in a start-up environment is an asset.
    • Superior relationship building and interpersonal skills including working directly with members of the executive team.
    • Ability to influence and work across the organization, including indirect management as required.
    • Places strong value on a team environment and shares knowledge freely to support others.
    • Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
    • Highly organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and ability to work under time pressures and deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and with a high level of professionalism, tact and integrity due to the sensitive nature of information.
    • Excellent time management skills.
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
    • Project management skills / experience is an asset.

    • You need to be legally eligible to work in Canada. While we are based in Toronto, due to COVID-19 this role can be conducted from any location at present. Our preference is for the incumbent to be Toronto based as some work in the Toronto office will be required.
