Wealth One First Open House in Markham
Markham, Ontario, December 8, 2016 - Wealth One today held its first retail office Open House in Markham, Ontario. More than 60 guests attended the event with enthusiasm as this is the first time in history a federally chartered Schedule I bank was founded by Chinese Canadian immigrants.
Like every other Schedule I Bank in Canada, Wealth One had to go through an exacting and rigorous process under the Bank Act and OSFI (Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions). It's one of the toughest processes in the world. And it's the key reason why the Canadian banking system is so highly regarded internationally. We're very proud of the fact that Wealth One more than met those stringent standards.
During the Open House, Councillor Alex Chiu, City of Markham, congratulated the opening of Wealth One's Markham office on behalf of the Mayor. Other members from the City of Markham, Mr. Stephen Chait, Director of Culture and Economic Development, Ms. Sandra Tam, Senior Officerand Councillor Amanda Collucci also attended.
"We focus on the banking needs of the Chinese Canadian community. And that's something else we're very proud of." Said Charles Lambert, CEO of Wealth One Bank, "It's a dynamic, highly entrepreneurial community, deeply committed to Canada – and all the openness, fairness and inclusiveness that our country stands for. It deserves a bank that believes as strongly in our country and the Canadian dream as this community does. That bank is Wealth One Bank of Canada."
