Jack (Dashu) Zhu Expand/Collapse

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Zhu is a seasoned and results-driven financial services executive both in Canada and internationally. Prior to joining Wealth One Bank of Canada, Mr. Zhu's major leadership positions include the CEO at the Nagelmackers Bank in Belgium, EVP and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Jiangsu Bank of China, President and CEO of the Bank of China (Canada) and a division head at the head office of Bank of China in Beijing. During his time as President and CEO of the Bank of China (Canada), Mr. Zhu led the Bank’s significant growth in its retail service network and credit business within the Canadian Chinese community.

Mr. Zhu holds PhD and Master’s degrees of systems engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University; and a Bachelor degree in Geophysics from Beijing University.

Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Leonard is a financial professional with over 30 years experience in launching and growing Canadian retail banks that challenge the traditional banks.  He was the CFO of CFF Bank, a Canadian schedule 1 bank that had approximately $245 million in assets and over $1.5 billion in loans under administration. Prior to that he was the CFO of Ally Credit Canada which offered savings products, retail and wholesale auto loans and residential mortgages through both direct and indirect channels. Ally had over $13 billion in assets before being acquired by Royal Bank of Canada. In addition, he was the founding Chief Financial Officer of ING DIRECT (since renamed Tangerine Bank), an innovator in offering direct to consumer savings and lending products.   Mr. Leonard is a Certified Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.

Vice President, Credit and Risk Management

Mr. Akey is a financial services executive with 20 years of credit and risk management experience. His leadership roles have included a number of senior positions at Scotiabank in Risk Management, Sales and Services, and Finance, with a proven record of growing mortgages, credit cards and indirect automotive lending products. Acknowledged as an expert in risk management for consumer and small business lending as well as infusing analytics across acquisition, account management and recoveries.

Mr. Akey holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Guelph and an MBA from Dalhousie. He is active in his community and serves on several advisory boards and is frequently invited to participate in industry roundtables and discussions.
